wins top prize at Sundance
Congratulations to filmmaker Ava DuVernay, who became the first African American woman to take home the directing award at the Sundance Film Festival.2012
DuVernay received the award for her second feature film, "Middle of Nowhere," which tells the story of a young woman who struggles to maintain her identity while her husband serves an eight-year prison sentence.
The New Black was originated by Film London as part of a range of programmes designed to support the development of Black film exhibition in London
